Our log beds are
designed from native white cedar or red cedar logs that are individually skip peeled by hand and sanded smooth.
We try to preserve unique characteristics of each log such as shape, taper, knots and worm tracings. Our beds are made with traditional mortise and tenon wood joinery.
For additional strength, heavy lag screws are used to join uprights with crosspieces at the corners. We provide wood
plugs so that when assembled these bolts are hidden from view. Bed parts are labeled for easy assembly and breakdown.
These beds are nice unfinished with a smooth sanded feel or a Danish oil can be applied which brings out the wood
grain and gives a richer color to the piece.
We
offer complete log beds, including side rails and flattened log slats that support the mattress. These slats are mortised
into the log side rails. The overall footprint of the bed depends on mattress size and upright log diameters.
If space is an issue, smaller logs may help or another option is a headboard and footboard which can be bolted to your own
metal rails. This gives the effect of a log bed with less overall size. We also offer just headboards to attach
to metal rails or the wall. Please let us know if you
need a special size.
